Loose Ends, Weekends
Leadership is hard work, sometimes forcing a leader to miss a meal, miss a special occasion, or miss an important phone call. We all know there are just not enough hours in the day, week, month for leaders to get everything done! However, Loose Ends, Weekends, allow us to give ourselves time to get some things accomplished without feeling rushed or overwhelmed.
Here is how it works! Every 2-3 months, just declare a special weekend exclusively to getting things done that you may have started, but did not finish, or something you wanted to do, but had not taken the time to do. It is also a perfect time to review your calendar and set timelines for project completion.
We work diligently every day to complete Herculean tasks—sometimes we make it, sometimes we don’t. By designating a weekend specifically for closing out projects, then we are free to enjoy other weekends doing things we love.
Loose Ends, Weekends gives us permission to move some things off of our full plate to handle at a later date without feeling guilty. It is a great stress reducer!
For example, during my past Loose Ends, Weekends, I was able to work on my new article about Performance Excellence, read several journal articles that have been sitting in a folder for a while, put the finishing touches on my new Coaching Curriculum, and order some books from Amazon. It was great to tie up those loose ends over the weekend.
I encourage you to try it!
